The Jackal is seen driving a white Alfa Romeo Spider

He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. TLDR: Redmayne nails it
In The Day of the Jackal (1973), the Jackal also drives a white Alfa Romeo, albeit an earlier model. He is referenced in Graham Norton i gosti: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). Lynch is not right for the role.
Overall, the story is a viable adaptation
Unfortunately, the leads are not up to par, which detracts from the otherwise spectacular and high-quality production. No offense to Lynch, it’s just that Redmayne has set the bar very high. A more experienced actor could have played a more believable counterpart/adversary character, necessary to challenge The Jackal.
The deception barometer is on all the time in the background
The character development works, though some things are left open-ended in the main characters’ narratives, but that might be desirable. The locations, varied interactions, and the way Redmayne speaks and switches characters really add a special layer to the story arc. I’m looking forward to seeing how Season 1 ends and how the quality is maintained or improved in Season 2.
If she does, Season 2 could be quite promising
Hopefully, Lynch will loosen up to be less stilted and give a more nuanced performance to try and live up to Redmayne’s standards.
