A land grab threatens to destroy a declining dynasty
Line of Events
When the vast Lawson cattle station lacks an heir, Australia’s rival factions see an opportunity to take control. The series was filmed across the Northern Territory and South Australia in locations so remote they are barely inhabited – let alone shown on screen.
The acting is fantastic, the relationships in the relationships are intriguing, complex enough
Sites include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park – with special permission from the traditional owners – and Tipperary Station, an actual working cattle station so big it has its own airport and school.. While I thought if this is a beautifully filmed series , the story is too melodramatic.
Makes me think it was made for an international audience
Viewers outside of Australia may be scratching their heads about our gun control laws while watching this. I lived in the Northern Territory for 8 years, there certainly isn’t that much shooting between people, it’s OTT.
It’s a very watchable series
The destruction of the state and constant manipulation are certainly true. Death and grief could be explored more deeply, although the legacy of psychological trauma does a good job of continuing throughout.
