Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that lands them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law stars in Skeleton Crew and more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that Neil’s younger siblings entertain is the same one Chewbacca’s family watches in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). He stars in The Crazy Cartoon: Stupid Old Death Bear (2022). I approach this review with caution, acknowledging that Skeleton Crew seems aimed at a younger audience. While kids might enjoy it, I found the first four episodes quite disappointing. The story lacks depth, more like a children’s movie that jumps from one place to another without much consequence. The war backdrop feels superficial, and the action sequences don’t have the impact they should have. The acting, while not terrible, could have been better, especially considering the caliber of some of the actors. Even Jude Law seems sloppy at times. The set design is impressive, but it can’t save a story that feels slow and ultimately quite forgettable. Maybe the series will improve later, but based on my initial impressions, I’m still not convinced. Prove me wrong!
