Essex and Wales collide as Gavin and Stacey fall in love and bring their friends, family and luggage with them. Apart from the scenes filmed in London in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including scenes set in. Essex. The house that served as the Shipmans’ House (Gavin’s family) is in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile northwest of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In series 3, both Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers than in the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo changed from T-reg (MR 1999) to X-reg (MR 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso changed from CV02 (MR 2002, registered in Cardiff) to HV54 (MR 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are clearly different cars. Featured in Gavin & Stacey: Outtakes (2007). Director Stephen Fretwell Featuring Stephen Fretwell. I have to say I don’t quite understand the previous reviewer because I think they are on a different planet than anyone else and I felt compelled to set the record straight. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best comedies I have seen in years. It has an amazing cast and a brilliantly written script by Ruth Jones and James Corden. The show revolves around Gavin (a boy from Essex) and Stacey (a receptionist on Barry Island) who start a relationship over the phone while at work. The feedback on the series has been so good that a second series has already been ordered.
